e-FISH-ent Event

April - May
Something's fishy in the studio!  During this studio challenge you will focus on developing efficient practice habits, giving you a pre-performance practice boost:  

   1.  Complete each week's challenges before your next lesson
   2.  Some challenges require parent, sibling or friend participation
   3.  Add a fish to your 'fish bowl' baggie for each task completed

Special prize for the most fish caught!



One Minute Club

February - March
Learn to play and name your notes quickly!  Become a member of the One Minute Club by naming and playing your notes in one minute or less - with no misses:  
  • Practice at home using your My Music Staff student portal
  • Test in-studio during your lesson
  • Master all the notes at your current level to sign the roster
  • Earn a new membership card each year
Make a collection of your yearly membership cards!


Christmas Break Challenge

During the two weeks
of Christmas break
Fill your home with piano music during the two weeks of Christmas Break:  

   1.  Color a candycane stripe for each day you play your piano
   2.  Record how may different pieces you played each day inside that stripe
   3.  Count the same piece only once per day
   4.  Your goal is to meet or exceed the ??Mystery?? number of pieces played

The piano team and the individual student with the most pieces played receive special recognition.  Can you beat the all-time record?  



Fall Flashcard Frenzy

October - November
Flashcards of all sorts and all levels are drilled during six weeks in October-November:  
  • Practice each week's assigned drill at home using your My Music Staff student portal
  • Your official time will then be determined in-studio during your lesson
  • Weekly winners recognized for each level
  • Studio champion for each week

The 30 Piece Challenge

Begins August 1st
Ends May 10th
Acccelerated Program - 

Learn 30 pieces this year, which averages out to 1 piece per week. 

How to check your progress:
   1.  Login to My Music Staff 
   2.  Go to Repertoire
   3.  Sort by Completed (add a column to view this filter, if needed)
   4.  Count your completed pieces from today back through August 1st
Check out the studio badge board to see everyone's progress


Piano Bead Chains

Begins August 1st
Ends May 10th

There are several ways to add beads to your chain: Special recognition is given to those earning the most beads, who will it be this year? 


Summer Treasure Map

June - July
Ahoy mateys!  Here is how to sail thru your summer treasure map and reach the treasure chest:  
  •    1.  Use your My Music Staff student portal to complete your June web activities and July flashcards
  •    2.  Complete additional tasks of your choice from the list provided - each of these tasks may be used twice
  •    3.  For every task completed, color in a circle of the path
  •    4.  Bring your map, signed by a parent, to your first lesson in August
Land Ho!  To finish your course, play your Student Surprise Song in costume during August 'Back to Piano Week'!
